Unlike almost every reproduction painting you have likely encountered outside of high end antiques dealers or specialist art galleries, our paintings have actually been painted by an artist, not a machine. Therefore, it may not surprise you, that they look, smell and feel like an on oil on canvas painting. We point this out as many textured prints are sold as hand painted originals. Which is why, on closer inspection, the artworks we sell are actually quite rare.

It is not our intention to imply that any of our paintings will ever be re-sold for vast sums of money, or for that matter will even be a good investment, but in the sameway as a handmade rug can be seen as a superior product made by skilled artisans many of the paintings that we sell should be considered in the same way.

Why are hand painted paintings so superior to a print of the original? The answer is simply that the only way to  reproduce an oil on canvas painting is to paint it in oil on canvas.

A machine lithograph is basically a textured print of a print of the original and subsequently will contain all the flaws of a print and many more. Unfortunately, the only way to recreate colour, light and texture is by mixing a pallette, and using individual brushtrokes to recreate all the aspects that brought the original canvas to life.
